Paul Wilkins has been a member of the firm since September
1999, after gaining ten years of experience in litigating
cases involving products liability, automobile accidents,
premises liability, class actions and complex litigation.
Since joining the firm, Mr. Wilkins has focused on representing
people throughout the country who have been injured
by pharmaceutical drugs and medical devices, as well
as people who have suffered losses as a result of consumer
fraud.
Mr. Wilkins currently serves on several committees appointed
by the court in the Propulsid Products Liability Multi-District
Litigation. Mr. Wilkins has also been appointed class
counsel and liaison counsel in consumer fraud and securities
fraud class action cases. More importantly, he has had
the honor of representing thousands of individual clients
in cases against pharmaceutical manufacturers.
In the area of environmental litigation, Mr. Wilkins
has participated in the investigation and litigation
of numerous mass "toxic tort" cases on behalf
of thousands of residents who have been exposed to toxic
chemicals and hazardous wastes released into their communities
by neighboring chemical and petroleum plants. These
cases present a unique challenge because of the complex
scientific and technical issues they present.
Mr. Wilkins has been in practice since 1989, after graduating
from Louisiana State University Law School. He earned
a degree in Finance from L.S.U. in 1984. After graduating
from law school, Mr. Wilkins worked as an associate
for the New Orleans firm of Leake & Andersson. He
returned to Baton Rouge in 1994 and continued to focus
on defense litigation until joining LeBlanc & Waddell
in 1999. He is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association
(Member, Committee on Legislation, 2000 to present),
American Trial Lawyers Association, Louisiana Trial
Lawyers Association, Federal and Fifth Circuit Bar Associations,
and the Baton Rouge Bar Association.
